Who is E V Wallace?
Hello there! I'm an Edinburgh-based aspiring novelist of historical fantasy adventures, inspired by my passion for the Aegean Bronze Age.
I'm the wife of a roleplaying history nut, the mother of a young son and devoted servant to a houmous-loving cat named Jester (currently lurking on the left, courtesy of the awesome Heather Bradley https://artbyheatherbradley.com/). With all of this going on, finding time or energy to write has always proved a challenge, albeit one I wouldn't have missed for the world!
With my debut novel now scheduled for release in November, a second due to go out to beta readers next month and a small but growing publication list of short stories to my credit my writing life has been something of a wild eight years, albeit a very rewarding one.

Writing with a disability
Like many people who worked, parented and wrote through the tumultuous year of 2020, I remember the Covid 19 pandemic as something of a fever dream. For me however, the flurry of homeworking, home-learning and parenting was compounded when my own bout of Covid 19 never went away.
Six years later I have recovered somewhat. I can still work, albeit remotely and from home and most importantly, I still write every day, at least to some degree.
Now I have had to learn to be kind to myself, to tailor my writing schedules and daily goals to what my body is telling me on any particular day and accept that overall my word counts are simply not going to be what they were in the BC (Before Covid) period of my life.
Somewhat to my surprise however, this has not turned out to be an entirely negative development. Not being able to work as hard on my writing as I had before, I have been forced to concentrate on working smart instead. What exactly does every scene I write really need, what are the main points I want to develop and what can go by the wayside. Which ideas can be more effectively combined into one. All of these are adjustments to my new restrictions but they have also immeasurably improved my writing and process surrounding it, allowing me to develop in ways that I honestly do not think I would have done if not for those restrictions. They have provided a shift in my professional life, one that dramatically and irretrievably changed the kind of writer I have developed into, but not one that has stopped it, or prevented me from engaging with the written word on my own terms.
